In a building structure Roof is the top part and roof covers the building. The main purpose of roofing in a house is to protect the building from effect of weather changes. Different weather condition throughout the year can certainly affect the building structure like; rain, hail, snow, sun and extreme hot condition, extreme cold condition of the weather can harm a building. The main purpose of roofing in much country is just to protect from the rain and many country roofing is designed for green house where plant is possible. Designing roofing is crucial part of a buildings construction.

There should be many thing considered while designing the roof such as the material of the roof, construction process of the roof and the durability of the roof should be long enough.

Laminated glass, aluminum sheet, banana leaves, concrete, sea grass and the wheaten straw are the most used material of the roofing purposes. Different material will give different kind of quality and makes different time of durability. Ceramic tiles are used as a roofing material in many countries in the world. How the roof will construct is totally depend on type of the support of required of house, how the underneath of the bridge will be paced and if the roof will be pitched or not.

Among those shapes some are really flat some are terrace roof, skill on roof, saw-tooth roof, pitched roof, Dutch gable roof, shaped gable roof, salt-box roof, outshot roof, Asian traditional roof, saddleback roof, half hipped roof, pyramidal roof etc. in the design of a roof there should be considered two parts those are; outer skin of the roof and the supporting structure of the roof. Supporting of the roof usually consist very long and strong beam and the timber like rigid material.
